Bespoke Wedding Invitation Design for Lapstone Barn 🌿

I am absolutely elated to be now affiliated with the beautiful Cotswold wedding venue, Lapstone Barn. Situated close to Broadway and other neighbouring villages such as Chipping Campden, it's the perfect location for a perfect countryside wedding.

Upon visiting Lapstone, I had a clear vision of what kind of wedding invitation I was going to design for them... I was blown away by the vast, luscious green views that surrounded the barn and I wanted to capture this within the invitation. The other striking thing that hit me about this venue was that it had an air of elegance and sophistication to it, more like a stately home rather than a rustic barn type feel. Again, I wanted to reflect this in the design.

Here's a little bit of 'behind the scenes' / process shots for you...

So as you can see, I have used a few different processes to create these; the first being the hand painted watercolour element. I wanted to capture the landscape with this watercolour wash and also make it personalised to the barn by recreating their motif. The second is hot foiling; I wanted to add a bit of 'sparkle' to the invites and I wanted to illustrate the beautiful fairy lights that run down their function room. The foiled element of the invitations can be in any colour, as can the watercolour wash- it's important to reflect YOUR Big Day, so I do always suggest having the splashes of your chosen colour scheme within your invitations.

Here is the final bespoke design I came up for the Barn... If you like what you see, please do get in touch to discuss your options. I would also highly recommend giving Lapstone a visit if you haven't already- you'll fall in love with the place as much as I did!

Autumnal Wedding Invitations 🍂

If you're getting married in the Autumn of this year (so from September onwards), I would suggest that you need to get thinking about your wedding invitations (if you haven't already). It's definitely not too late, but from experience, I would recommend sending them out 2-3 months before the Big Day itself. At the moment, I am working on lots of invitations for this time of the year as well as all the day stationery for couples getting married in the summer. It's all go!

When it comes to your wedding invites, it's important to reflect the vibe, tone & theme of your wedding. So if you're having it in the Autumnal months, think of the colours: burgundy's, golds, bronzes, burnt oranges, maroons, navy's, coppers and also reds. I'm not saying that your invites can't be a blush rose (if that's the theme running throughout your wedding) for instance and actually I would highly recommend them to be if this is the styling for your Big Day. I'm also not implying that you need to have the iconic red and orange leaves on your invites just because you're getting married in October. Have a look at some past invitations I have created for around this time of year to give you some inspiration...

And if you're looking for some more inspiration for the Big Day itself, I have sieved through a lot of images on Pinterest and got a collation of some of my favourite styling ideas here... Please do get in touch with your ideas for your wedding stationery, be it invitations or on the day stationery, I cannot wait to hear from you!

⚡️ The Highlights from Retro Press in 2017

Wow! Where did that year go?! And what a wonderful, jam- packed, exciting one it was too! I've had invitations coming out of my ears, from rustic to glam and everything in between, I've designed and produced lots of different and unique day stationery, from do not disturb signs to huge welcome signs, and then there has also been a lot of business stationery on the go and new brands that I've been working with... It's been crazy! Did I mention that there has been several collaborative photo-shoots, wedding fairs, meetings and relationships formed with wedding suppliers and wedding venues AND a re-launch of the website too?! Oh and I've moved studios/ house and got a little fur baby too- Lewi, a very naughty miniature dachshund!

Now at Retro Press, I can do Table Plans and Table Names on PERSPEX. It's different, unique and a service that you can't find just anywhere. I would love to do Invitations on perspex... Maybe in 2018- any takers?!

A small collection of Wedding Invitation Suites designed to make it easier for my clients. These are tailored to suit my clients, colours, fonts, wording, etc, thus still very much personalised; it's not like ordering off Etsy or NOTHS for example. Hopefully, there is something for everyone, if not, we go down the Bespoke route. Have a look for yourself.

kingscote barn

I'm delighted to be working in association with Kingscote Barn, where I shall be exhibiting at their Wedding Fair at the beginning of this year; Sunday 18th March 2018, which I am very excited about! Lots of good things to come...

There was a high demand for personalised Christmas cards this year, from newly wed bride & grooms to families to other suppliers, such as Vanilla Pod Bakery (Exquisite wedding cake specialists based in the Cotswolds). Here a few below...

Being asked to feature on The Love List of Rock My Wedding at the end of 2017 really topped it all off and I can't wait for more to come with them...

Hand-painted Watercolour & Rose Gold Wedding Suite

Here at Retro Press, I'd like to think that ANYTHING is possible- I get people coming to me with requests that I couldn't even dream up of. And I love it! I love the challenge and I love how every single client is different and unique- that's what it's all about.

This post shows a recent invitation suite, in which I designed their Invitations, Orders of Service, Name Place Cards and Table Plan- all with the same theme running through it; the hand-painted green watercolour being the most prominent feature. The couple wanted a hint of glamour, so we decided on this rose gold bunting to finish everything off. The personalised green wax stamp also sets a very elegant tone and I would always recommend having something like this on the envelopes, or personalised stickers alternatively (which are less expensive) - it's in the little touches that really make your stationery/ wedding stand out.

Bespoke Wedding Stationery Package

Imagine what Santa feels like in the run the up to Christmas... With all his little elves working their magic and everything being packaged up beautifully, all in time for delivery- absolute chaos! Well, this is what it feels like here at Retro; I'm just in a different season, my clientele is slightly older and I don't have as many elves! It is indeed... ALL GO!

I love designing all the stationery items for the wedding day itself- there's nothing better than seeing a complete, whole package, especially when it all matches. It's these finer details that will not go unnoticed by your guests; it's that personal touch in which they will be wowed. As I always say, the invitations should set the tone and vibe for the wedding, and in turn, the stationery that you see on the day should be reflective of this too and help to create the atmosphere that you originally intended.

Some people decide that they want to go a little off-piste with their on-the-day stationery and make it a little different to their invitations- which is also fine, as I can do anything here- there are no restrictions; your day should be just as you want it. Even if I haven't designed your invitations, I  can still design anything you need me to.

Please take a look at the pics below, in which I'm showing off a recent wedding stationery package- from the invitations to the table plan, it was a pleasure from the start to finish. Congrats Jenny & Ross!

Bristol Vintage Wedding Fair 2017

So it's nearly that time of year again... My favourite time- Wedding Fair season!! This is my third year doing the Bristol Vintage Wedding Fair at Bristol zoo and I just love it! It's a bit different to your normal fair; it's got such great exhibitors, such a great vibe and it's organised by the best in the industry. It's definitely worth a trip as I know you'll find the best suppliers around, which is why Retro Press is very proud to be exhibiting here. I'll be exhibiting lots of new work and I'm very excited to meet lots of new brides & grooms to be, so do come along if it's not too far from you!

Kraft Pocketfold Wedding Invitations

The pocketfold style wedding invitations are so popular because they work on so many levels; they are beautiful, sturdy, hard- wearing, (hard to loose!), practical in the sense that they can contain so much information whilst still looking elegant, and you can have them designed in any style you wish to match your big day. For example, I have designed many traditional looking pocketfold invitations but then these ones exhibited in this post are more rustic and 'crafty' looking. These are totally bespoke to the bride and groom and match the vibe and theme of their wedding day. The hand- drawn flowers which run throughout the invitations match the flowers and colours of the flowers for the big day. I very much believe it's these little touches that tie this one big day altogether and makes it special. The invitations should set the tone for the day and it's nice when your guests get to your wedding and can see this.

If you haven't quite found what you're looking for in terms of wedding stationery, or you are unsure on what you want/ need, please do get in touch, we'd love to help create your dream wedding suite.

Watercolour Wedding Invitations

It was our absolute pleasure to get the watercolours out for these wedding invitations... To get your hands dirty, is what its all about. To go back to basics and pick up a paintbrush is so satisfying. When creating such invitations by hand, it ensures that they are absolutely unique to the couple and they will not be able to be recreated anywhere. On top of the hand painted watercolour, we have gold foiled some tea lights/ bunting which finishes of the design very nicely and makes them even more special/ luxurious.
We love anything design, bespoke and unique here at Retro Press, so please do get in touch if you share the same sentiment and want your invitations especially designed for you.
