Bespoke Invitation Design for Lapstone Barn 🌿

Lapstone Barn is definitely up there with one of my favourite wedding venues! If you are haven’t yet decided where to get married, I would highly recommend visiting this stunning Cotswold wonderland.

Having recently just had the pleasure of exhibiting at their latest Wedding Fair on Sunday, I felt it was only appropriate to create a new, exciting, bespoke invitation design especially for couples getting married at this exquisite venue.

When it comes to your wedding invitations, it’s very important to reflect the overall theme and vibe of what you want your Big Day to be. After all, receiving your invitations is the very first insight into your wedding that your guests will get… Make sure its a good one!

With this in mind, I wanted to create an invitation for the barn that is elegant, easily adaptable (in terms of the colours) and truly unique to couples getting married there. I have hand drawn the barn which features at the top of the invitation and printed it in rose gold. You can easily change this to suit you and your theme of your Big Day- so silver, gold, copper, etc. I have hand painted a watercolour wash of green which is behind the names- again this is easily adaptable or even erasable if you’d prefer. I chose to go with this colour with the watercolour and the pocketfold envelope to reflect the vast, green landscape that surrounds the Barn.

For more details, please do get in touch, I’d love to hear more about your wedding.

Kew Garden Wedding Invitations πŸŒΏπŸ’

I recently had the pleasure of designing and creating some bespoke invitations for a couple getting married at the stunning Kew Gardens. My clients wanted their invitations to reflect the elegance, sophistication and wanders of this incredible venue. Their theme was blush pink, ivory and rose gold.

There were quite a few stages to this design process, all of which were very unique to the couple. As you will see in the pictures below, we created a monogram of their initials which was wax stamped in a rose gold, rich wax on luxury vellum belly bands. They decided to go for the pocketfold invitation; this is a classic style and is great for containing lots of information in a beautiful, succinct way. The couple were having their reception in the grand Orangery in Kew Gardens, so they wanted this to be a feature on the invitations. I hand drew this magnificent building in pencil, scanned it in at a high resolution, converted it into a plate for foiling and then hand printed it in the rose gold- as you will see at the top of the invitation. The couples names and all the titles are also printed in the rose gold foil. They were printed on a textured, ivory card which only enhances that elegant feel to them.

It’s so important to set the right tone with your wedding stationery, after all, it is the first
thing your guests will see. Please do get in touch if you want to create something unique
for your Big Day.

Vellum & Gold Foil Save the Dates 🌿

I'm very excited to share that I will soon be adding a new range of designs to the website: The Foiled Collection. You will be able to change the foil colour to anything that you wish and make them tailored to you and your wedding.
Hot foiling is an expensive process because everything is lovingly hand printed and of course, the materials needed, such as the foil and plates are not cheap. Thus, it's a luxury finish that elevates your stationery to the next level.
My aim with The Foiled Collection, is to make the process as easy as possible for you whilst making them affordable, elegant and luxurious.
Here is a sneak peak at one of the new designs and showcasing the Save the Dates... Gold foil printed on beautiful vellum, layered on top of textured card with the details digitally printed. There will be an option to have the gold leaf printed straight onto the card, if you'd prefer.
Make a statement with your stationery and really set that tone for the Big Day with foiled luxury additions πŸ’•
Please do get in touch for more info.

Autumnal Wedding Invitations πŸ‚

If you're getting married in the Autumn of this year (so from September onwards), I would suggest that you need to get thinking about your wedding invitations (if you haven't already). It's definitely not too late, but from experience, I would recommend sending them out 2-3 months before the Big Day itself. At the moment, I am working on lots of invitations for this time of the year as well as all the day stationery for couples getting married in the summer. It's all go!

When it comes to your wedding invites, it's important to reflect the vibe, tone & theme of your wedding. So if you're having it in the Autumnal months, think of the colours: burgundy's, golds, bronzes, burnt oranges, maroons, navy's, coppers and also reds. I'm not saying that your invites can't be a blush rose (if that's the theme running throughout your wedding) for instance and actually I would highly recommend them to be if this is the styling for your Big Day. I'm also not implying that you need to have the iconic red and orange leaves on your invites just because you're getting married in October. Have a look at some past invitations I have created for around this time of year to give you some inspiration...

And if you're looking for some more inspiration for the Big Day itself, I have sieved through a lot of images on Pinterest and got a collation of some of my favourite styling ideas here... Please do get in touch with your ideas for your wedding stationery, be it invitations or on the day stationery, I cannot wait to hear from you!

Wedding Fair at The Barn at Upcote πŸ’•

Taking part in The Upcote Wedding Fair is definitely a highlight of mine! The team that run the show and venue, Hannah, Jo & Andrew are just wonderful. They put on such a great event for all involved; suppliers and guests alike; there's so much to see, so many friendly faces and just a great atmosphere all round. I absolutely love it!
It's a great opportunity, not only to showcase my work, but its also a chance to meet lots of excited newly engaged couples. I think it's important when providing such a personal service to try and meet my clients face to face- this isn't always possible, but I like to do so when I can.
If you haven't yet chosen your venue and you're looking to get married in the beautiful Cotswolds, in an idyllic setting, in a barn type venue, then look no further. Go and see Hannah and the team for a look around and I'm sure you'll fall in love with Upcote just as much as I did upon my first viewing.
Have a look at a few pics below, including Wedding Cakes from the wonderful Claire at Cake Daydreams along with Wedding Flowers from the marvellous Jo from Aqua Flowers.
Thanks for having us, already looking forward to the Autumn fair! xx

Real Wedding at Dewsall Court, Hereford πŸ€΅πŸΌπŸ‘°πŸ½

There's nothing I love more than receiving photographs from the Wedding Day itself... After working closely with the couple from the start right up until the Big Day, seeing all the stationery in situ makes everything so real and it's so nice to see it working with all the other bits, like the wedding flowers, the table display and just the general vibe.

The theme of this particular wedding was Navy, whites, rose gold, simplicity and elegance. Their bespoke invitations set the tone for the Wedding, as this is the first indicator of what the guests are to expect (very important might I add). See the image below to get an idea of their style...

For the Wedding Stationery on the day, the couple wanted to continue the design through to everything; from the Menus, Table Names, Place Names to the Table Plan. Everything was in keeping, consistent and beautiful. Have a look at the amazing photographs from the Day, by the wonderful Emma Gardiner... A huge Congratulations to Amelia & Dale!

Christmas Wedding Stationery Shoot with Aqua Florist πŸ’

christmas wedding stationery

So with the Christmas countdown being very much ON, it was a fantastic opportunity to work with Jo from Aqua Florist on a little festive inspired photo shoot. Jo has been busy busy busy with weddings all year round but at Christmas she finds the time to make these beautiful wreaths, which are filled with bows, ribbons, dried fruits, pine cones and they are just exquisite. I went to visit her at the Aqua Flowers HQ along with my little helper Lewi (the sausage dog- who actually didn't help at all!!) and had a full on day of fun, Christmas and photos!

With Christmas Weddings getting more and more popular, it's a crazy time here at Retro Press- what with doing bespoke Christmas card orders to Wedding Stationery and I just love it! When you think of Christmas inspired wedding stationery, think deep, warm, dark colours with touches of metallic tones running through them. Colour combinations that work very well together: Emerald Greens & Golds, Dark Greys & Silvers, Deep Reds & Golds, Navy & Rose Golds and actually the Brown Kraft paper is very indicative of this Christmassy feel.

Enjoy the photos and please do get in touch, I'd love to hear from you!

Wedding Inspiration: Blush Pink & Gold πŸ’•βœ¨

Blush pink & gold or rose gold is such a beautiful, elegant combination. It could be considered to be 'too feminine' when coming to choose a colour scheme for your Big Day, but gents, embrace it & just own that pink shirt! You just can't go wrong with this colour combo, it screams luxury, style & grace; have a look at some inspiration taken from Pinterest to get you thinking about what you could do in terms of decoration for the Wedding Day itself:

The beauty about these colours and theme, is that it will never go "out"; it's classic, yet you can make it as modern as you like. You won't look back on your Wedding Day in years to come and think, "God! What was I thinking!" And here at Retro Press, I have done many different styles of wedding stationery packages over the years to match the blush pinks & golds... and I have loved working on every single one. Each and every invitation I work on has it's own individual style and uniqueness to the couple in hand. It's important to reflect your Wedding in the Invitations you send out to your guests- from start to finish, you need your Wedding to stand out, make an impression and be personalised to you. Please have a look at a snippet of some of the stationery I have created in the past that relate to this luxurious theme. Don't hesitate to get in touch with your wonderful wedding ideas!

Wedding Inspiration: A Navy Affair πŸ’™

You can't go wrong with the classic wedding theme of Navy. It's such an elegant, strong colour that works with so many other colours; coral, white, rose gold, silver, gold, blush pink, burgundy, to name a few. When you match it with the right colour, Navy works in any season and along with any venue. Here are a few images from my Pinterest board, Navy Wedding Style (https://www.pinterest.co.uk/retropressuk/navy-wedding-style/) to help you get inspired for the Big Day itself:

Over the past year, I have done designed quite a range of bespoke Navy inspired wedding invitations. They have all been different, with varied styles and finishes; it just depends on your wedding day and what matches you. Please see have a look and get in touch for your perfect design.

Wedding Inspiration: Green Foliage 🌿

In this past year, I have seen a significant rise in the desire for a more 'natural' wedding vibe, with lots of greens, creams and foliage taking precedent throughout the wedding. Whether you're going for a rustic feel or a classic one, this colour palette lends itself very nicely to both.

I've been having a look through Pinterest and have found some wonderful inspiration for when it comes to the Big Day itself and I very much enjoy all of it...

As I briefly touched upon in my opening paragraph, this colour way and feel of foliage works well with both a rustic wedding or a very classic/ traditional one. In terms of the wedding stationery to match, with the rustic feel, I would be tempted to add in a brown kraft element, along with twine, lace, etc. If you are going for a more traditional wedding, I would suggest that gold & rose gold work very well with this theme, or keep it quite simple and adding in a wreath/ some leaves as decoration.

Below are some past examples of where rustic meets foliage...

Please see below for some past stationery designed and produced here at Retro in which reflect  this gorgeous theme, but in a more classic style.

Hand-painted Watercolour & Rose Gold Wedding Suite

Here at Retro Press, I'd like to think that ANYTHING is possible- I get people coming to me with requests that I couldn't even dream up of. And I love it! I love the challenge and I love how every single client is different and unique- that's what it's all about.

This post shows a recent invitation suite, in which I designed their Invitations, Orders of Service, Name Place Cards and Table Plan- all with the same theme running through it; the hand-painted green watercolour being the most prominent feature. The couple wanted a hint of glamour, so we decided on this rose gold bunting to finish everything off. The personalised green wax stamp also sets a very elegant tone and I would always recommend having something like this on the envelopes, or personalised stickers alternatively (which are less expensive) - it's in the little touches that really make your stationery/ wedding stand out.

Rose Gold and Navy Bespoke Wedding Invitations

This is definitely the year for rose gold- not just with wedding stationery, but you see it everywhere- lifestyle, home, jewellery, etc. I love it because it's luxurious, glamorous and timeless. It's complimented particularly well with marble, navy and greys- which coincidently are also very much popular colour ways at the moment.

I have recently designed and created some beautiful wedding invitations for a couple which are rose gold and navy and classic looking. They are unique to the couple and set a very exquisite tone for the big day. I also designed a special one off card for the bride to send the Maid of Honour, which also matches the wedding invitations. Personal touches go a long way.
