personalised stationery

Photoshoot at Lapstone Barn

We have recently been lucky enough to be apart of a fantastic styled shoot at the fabulous venue,
Lapstone Barn, which is located in the heart of the Cotswolds.

The stationery we created for the shoot was solely inspired by the fabulous mood board created by Jane from Tulle & Blue. The muted blue tones mixed with the greys, burnt gold and greens were the focus for me. I wanted to design something soft, whimsical and beautiful to enhance the overall elegant and mystical tone of the shoot. Everything has been hand printed and hand made with love and also hand painted – using a watercolour wash to create the backdrop to all artworks. Everything we designed is in keeping with all the other pieces giving a natural flow; stationery items include, a pocket-fold invitation with matte gold foiling, place name tags, gold foiled menu cards, table numbers, seating plan cards which hang from the foliage hoop and a welcome sign.

We absolutely loved being involved in this shoot and seeing everything come together; it’s so important
that all elements of your Big Day matches and compliments each other and this just highlights that. Have a look at just a few of the amazing photographs taken by Joanna Briggs below… All suppliers can be found below the images.

Christmas Wedding Stationery πŸŽ…πŸΌβ€οΈ

What with the lead up to Christmas and with the β€˜wrapping’ up of the year, it seemed very apt to end my stream of blog posts on a recent winter/ Christmas inspired stationery suite.

It was an absolute delight to work on this suite from the very beginning, starting with their Save the Dates. We then worked on their invitations, in which we used a burgundy foil for their names to create that luxurious feel to them. As you will see, their theme was very much focused around the red winter berries that you find at this time of the year. These hand painted watercolour berries feature throughout all the stationery and makes everything all lovely, consistent and in keeping with each other. Stationery items included: Save the Dates, Invitations, Table Plan, Table numbers and place names. I cannot wait to see the photos from the Big Day itself- I bet everything looked just so magical and beautiful.

A huge congratulations to Emily on Josh on their marriage, wishing you all the very best for the future.

If it’s that time for you to start thinking about your wedding stationery, then don’t hesitate to get in touch with your ideas and wishes, I’d absolutely love to hear from you. I will be taking little break from Friday 21st December until Wednesday 2nd January and I will be answering all emails upon my return.

Merry Christmas everyone and a very Happy New Year xx

Real Wedding at Cripps Barn 🌿

I truly love nothing more than receiving wedding photos from the Big Day itself… It puts everything into perspective and a vision become reality. It’s amazing to see all the stationery I produce in my little studio come together with all the other wonderful things on the day, such as the flowers, foliage, overall table layout and everything.

This post is dedicated to the awesome couple Claire & Josh who travelled all the way from sunny Sydney, Australia to get married in the beautiful Cotswold venue, Cripps Barn.

They came to me after they had done their invitations and wanted something really special and personalised to them for the wedding day. They had two very prominent themes that they wanted enhancing within their stationery; their love of craft beer & beautiful rustic antlers. As you will see in the photographs below, we incorporated both of these things very nicely into their stationery, with flashes of copper, foliage, watercolour & brown kraft goodness. I had so much fun creating everything, including: personalised place names, personalised belly bands that wrapped around the napkins, an Order of the Day sign, Table Plan Cards, Table Name Cards, menus and Order of Service booklets. Thanks for having all the faith and giving me the creative freedom to produce some really exciting stuff! Congratulations to Claire & Josh, it was an absolute pleasure!

Kew Garden Wedding Invitations πŸŒΏπŸ’

I recently had the pleasure of designing and creating some bespoke invitations for a couple getting married at the stunning Kew Gardens. My clients wanted their invitations to reflect the elegance, sophistication and wanders of this incredible venue. Their theme was blush pink, ivory and rose gold.

There were quite a few stages to this design process, all of which were very unique to the couple. As you will see in the pictures below, we created a monogram of their initials which was wax stamped in a rose gold, rich wax on luxury vellum belly bands. They decided to go for the pocketfold invitation; this is a classic style and is great for containing lots of information in a beautiful, succinct way. The couple were having their reception in the grand Orangery in Kew Gardens, so they wanted this to be a feature on the invitations. I hand drew this magnificent building in pencil, scanned it in at a high resolution, converted it into a plate for foiling and then hand printed it in the rose gold- as you will see at the top of the invitation. The couples names and all the titles are also printed in the rose gold foil. They were printed on a textured, ivory card which only enhances that elegant feel to them.

It’s so important to set the right tone with your wedding stationery, after all, it is the first
thing your guests will see. Please do get in touch if you want to create something unique
for your Big Day.

Wedding Signage for the Big Day πŸ‘°πŸ½πŸ€΅πŸΌ

Here at Retro Press, it's not all about the wedding invitations, but actually every little aspect of the Big Day itself. I often get asked if I can create little signs to accompany all the added extras that couples have on their wedding day... and the answer is yes of course! Whether it's a sign for your polaroid camera, bubbly bar or coffee station, we can do anything tailored to you. This means that you don't have to order generic ones online, but you can still have these designed to match your theme and style of your wedding. Here are some recent signs that I did for a lovely couple....
Please do get in touch for more details, I'd love to help.

Rustic Day Stationery from the Tailored Collection

I often get asked if there is Day stationery to accompany the the Tailored Collection designs... And the answer is yes! So that includes everything from the Order of Services, the Table Plan, the Place Name cards, Table Cards, Signage, Menus and anything else you can think of. I feel like it's sometimes hard to envision your invitation design translated into these stationery items so I thought I'd dedicate a post to it, focusing on just one of the designs from the Collection; The Blue Thistle invitation.

The invitation design was inspired by the wonderful rustic wedding theme. But I wanted to create something that was rather elegant and something a bit different to the normal idea of "rustic". Printed on beautiful brown kraft card, this design is quite simple yet bold, luxurious and sets the tone for a barn type wedding. There is the option to have it printed on a white card or even a different coloured background, which changes the tone completely.... It's amazing how much the paper stock makes a difference the overall style and vibe. Have a look at the Invitation and Save the Date suite below....

And now for the Day Stationery items... These are from a couple that recently got married at the stunning Great Tythe Barn in Tetbury. As you can see, they decided to go for Order of Service booklets, name place cards, table cards and they also had a table plan too (waiting for photos of this).... Everything is in keeping with each other which makes such a big impression on the Big Day itself. It's that attention to detail that leaves your guests WOWED!

Please do get in touch for more information, samples or even just a chat!

Additional Luxury Wedding Stationery Embellishments ❀️

Do you get as excited about your wedding stationery as you do about your flowers, cake or even dress?! ... If you do, then adding luxury extras to your invitations or day stationery is going to be unavoidable!
Your invitations are going to be the first little insight that your guests have into your wedding. You want to set the tone and make sure that they know what kind of day to expect. Whether it's a rustic, country, elegant, urban or Indian wedding, it's important that your invites match up to the same vibe that you're going for.
There are just so many things that you can add to your invitations to make them personalised and unique to you and I often get asked about the possibilities here at Retro Press... Well they are endless and I am constantly adding new things to the list of things that I can do/ offer! Thus, I thought it might be useful however to highlight some of these things, so I have created a new page on the website especially dedicated to these luxury embellishments. The list on here at the moment:

  • Foiling
  • Blind Debossing
  • Addressed Envelopes
  • Individually printed Guest names on your invites
  • Personalised Wax Stamps
  • Hand Torn Edging
  • Belly Bands
  • Envelope Liners
  • Bull Dog Clips

You can have a read in detail about of all of these stylish, bespoke additions on the website, but here's a quick look to get you inspired...

Customisable Wedding Invitations; The Tailored Collection πŸ’•

The Tailored Collection is a varying suite of invitations that I have designed in order to make life easy for you whilst at the same time, still being unique to you. At the moment, there are 5 very different designs, thus hopefully there is at least one that catches your eye.

I get asked lots of questions about The Tailored Collection, so I thought I would try and answer the most frequent ones in this blog post!

Think of these invitations as starting points. The colours, wording and paper stocks used are all changeable and this is how you make the design bespoke to you. This is a service in which I provide that is complimentary when ordering from this collection... If however, you wanted to add an element in, like a motif, a building, an illustration, etc, extra design charges are applicable (and it just depends upon what you want adding).

Other embellishments that you might want to add into your design / final invitations:

- Twine & tags
- Matching belly bands
- Foiling
- Matching envelope liners
- Bespoke stickers
- Bespoke Wax stamp
- Printed personalised names on your invitations

How to place an order:

This is dead easy but it's not computerised (which would take away from the personal service that I pride myself on). All you have to do is fill out a form on the Contact page and I will get back to you within 24 working hours. Once we have had a discussion about your invitations and you have sent me the wording that you require, I will create a digital proof and send it back to you for your approval. Once you are totally happy, payment is made and production begins.

The usual timescale:

If you're ordering in good time (not in a rush), I would say it takes about 2-3 weeks to turn your invitations around... If however, (which seems to happen a lot), you are ordering last minute, the quickest turn around time is 1 week (7 working days).

Matching On the Day Stationery:

Lots of couples want their day stationery to match their invitations... Personally, I think it's a nice touch and something that your guests will notice and appreciate. You've set the tone with your invitations so it makes sense to carry it through to on the Big Day too. All of the Tailored Collection designs come with matching day stationery items, but as these bits seem to leave my studio straight away so I don't have much in terms of samples, but I do have a few images so fear not! The stationery items for on the wedding day is endless and I do it all:

- Orders of Service booklets/ cards
- Place Names
- Table Plan
- Table Name/ Number cards
- Welcome sign / signage
- Labels for favours
- Menus for the tables

Sample Service:

Don't hesitate to get in touch if you want to see any invitation samples- I send these out free of charge... And I do think it's always worth doing so if you've got the time- just so you can see the paper stock, quality, colours etc.

Consultation time:

I don't usually meet up with my clients for consultations for the Tailored Collection; there shouldn't be any need to. Most people order online and we communicate via email. If you want a phone consultation, that's not a problem at all. But I work with brides and grooms from all over the country, so it's not always easy to meet up, hence why ordering from this collection is easier than going for something totally bespoke.

So, to give you an idea of how one of the designs from the Collection can be altered, please see the images below; all of these started with the White Snapdragon (first image) as the selected design from the outset...

As you can see, each invitation is bespoke to the couple- with some choosing to add a motif, some adding foil, the change of the colours etc. There are so many options, you just need to know how to explore them! Please get in touch if you'd like to have a chat about your invitations, I'm always here to help.

Autumnal Wedding Invitations πŸ‚

If you're getting married in the Autumn of this year (so from September onwards), I would suggest that you need to get thinking about your wedding invitations (if you haven't already). It's definitely not too late, but from experience, I would recommend sending them out 2-3 months before the Big Day itself. At the moment, I am working on lots of invitations for this time of the year as well as all the day stationery for couples getting married in the summer. It's all go!

When it comes to your wedding invites, it's important to reflect the vibe, tone & theme of your wedding. So if you're having it in the Autumnal months, think of the colours: burgundy's, golds, bronzes, burnt oranges, maroons, navy's, coppers and also reds. I'm not saying that your invites can't be a blush rose (if that's the theme running throughout your wedding) for instance and actually I would highly recommend them to be if this is the styling for your Big Day. I'm also not implying that you need to have the iconic red and orange leaves on your invites just because you're getting married in October. Have a look at some past invitations I have created for around this time of year to give you some inspiration...

And if you're looking for some more inspiration for the Big Day itself, I have sieved through a lot of images on Pinterest and got a collation of some of my favourite styling ideas here... Please do get in touch with your ideas for your wedding stationery, be it invitations or on the day stationery, I cannot wait to hear from you!

Real Wedding at Cripps Barn πŸŒΏπŸ’

There's nothing better than receiving the official photographs from a wedding that you've been so involved in... I was very excited about these ones in particular as I had worked closely with the couple from the start (on their invitations) and then I went onto create their unique stationery for the Big Day itself. I just LOVE seeing how everything comes together- it's like a jigsaw puzzle and the stationery being one of the many pieces that helps make this day so special.
Lisa & Ben came to me about a year ago with their styling ideas and dreams of what they envisioned their wedding to be like... They had already secured their date & venue; the beautiful Cripps Barn, located in the heart of the Cotswolds... So luxe rustic was the vibe; think, foliage, lots of greenery, brown kraft, ("strictly no bunting"), whites, creams and just stylish all over! I couldn't wait to get started! Oh and, they also have a miniature dachshund in which they wanted to feature on the invitations... so here they are to show you where we started our journey...

And now for the pics you've been waiting for... Photographed by the talented Adam Drake...

How amazing?! Everything looks just perfect and I am so happy to have been a part of it all. Now, here are some photo's of the wedding stationery that I created for this wonderful couple. I designed everything in keeping with their invitations, so everything is on brown kraft card and everything has the same feel and look as the invites did. The Table Plan and Order of the Day sign are both laser engraved on wood, so just enhancing the rustic tones of the day, but in an elegant, beautiful way.

A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to you, Lisa & Ben, it's been an absolute please working with you both and thanks for sharing your amazing wedding pics with us!! Please see who else helped make this day special with the list of suppliers below:

Brown Kraft Wedding Stationery πŸ·πŸ’•

The Brown Kraft Travel Tag is definitely one of my favourite styles of invitations. It's different, unique and enhances the rustic feel to your wedding. The design is unrestricted in the sense that you can go for something very modern (as in this post) or very traditional; the options are endless.

This blog post features the bespoke invitations for a couple who recently tied the knot along with their other on the day stationery items; their Place Names and Orders of Services. I also created their Table Plan and Table Numbers to match.

Lyn & Tim were had their reception at Prescott Speed Hill Climb, so they wanted all of their stationery to be themed around the iconic old racing cars. As you can see, everything is in keeping and all looked wonderful! It's in the little touches of detail that make all the difference.

Don't hesitate to get in touch with your ideas for your invitations, I'm always excited to take on new challenges and new designs!

The Brown Kraft Pocketfold Wedding Invitation πŸ’Œ

If you're looking to find a combination of rustic and beautifully elegant wedding invitations, then the kraft pocketfold style is perfect is right up your street. This type of invitation is both functional and stylish; it holds all your information sheets in one place (so there's no excuse from your guests that they've lost their RSVP slip !) and the main invitation is the first thing you see when you open the envelope, so it needs to scream your theme and your vibe for the Big Day.

In terms of the design, this is where the options are endless; you can go traditional with a script calligraphy font/ you can go for something a bit more quirky/ you can add elements of your day as you wish (like flowers or the venue for example)/ you can have some foiling on them... the list is endless. We have done so many different designs here at Retro Press; everything is tailored to your needs. Have a look at some of our past examples below:

There are many different ways in which you can fasten the pocketfold invitation;

  • With a card belly band that wraps around the invite (you could have your initials on, date, etc)
  • With a wax seal, either with your initials stamped in, or an image/emblem that reflects your theme
  • With twine and a tag- or just twine
  • With a ribbon and a tag

The finishing touch that you decide on depends upon the look and feel that you want to emulate- it's very much a personal preference... But every little detail matters- it's what sets the tone for the day. Have a look below to give you an idea:

We would highly recommend this style of invitation if you are getting married in a rural area, the countryside- perfect for the Cotswolds, a barn and that sort of vibe. Please do get in touch if you've got an idea/ you don't have an idea/ you just want to discuss your perfect wedding invitations.

Business Stationery for The Lion Sparkles πŸ’«πŸ’•

In case you didn't know, I work on many different projects here at Retro Press, including business stationery. I recently had the honour to work with the wonderful Beth from The Lion Sparkles. The brief... think bold, bright, STATEMENT!

So... I designed and produced a range of neon pink, electric yellow and sassy black postcards (see below), which I think match their products perfectly! I also created some labels to match. As you can imagine, I had a lot of F U N working on these items and I'm very looking forward to doing lots more with them! Remember... Attitude Is Everything!

Rose Gold Thank You Cards πŸ’•

Here at Retro Press, we do all kinds of Thank You cards for clients. Even if we haven't had the honour of doing your invitations, fear not, we can still do your bespoke thank you's. Whether you want to use a photograph from the day, multiple photo's from the day, or something more to match the style of your stationery... anything is possible. It's important to make these personalised, whether it's using an image or style, your guests will very much appreciate it; it's the last bit of your WEDMIN left to do and then that's it, you can enjoy married life!

Here are some recent bespoke Thank You cards designed and printed here at Retro... It's all about the Rose Gold for this couple! The couple's wedding stationery was very much in the grey tones, so they decided that they wanted a little bit of colour for their cards, but still within the same luxury feel. As you can see from the pictures below, the "Thank You" is rose gold foiled and so are the couples initials on the envelopes- making them even more extra special.

Don't hesitate to get in touch with your wonderful card ideas and let us bring them to life!
