Real Wedding at Cripps Barn, Gloucestershire

What better way to bring in the New Year than with some images from a beautiful wedding that I am honoured to have been a part of from the end of last summer. Set in the beautiful venue of Cripps Barn, which is in the heart of the Cotswolds. It has a sense of rustic, elegant charm about it in which I wanted to capture in the stationery I created for this wonderful couple getting married.

Nicole and Chris were so great in the sense that they totally trusted my opinion and thus gave me the creative freedom to design all of their signage in which we printed onto stylish clear perspex. I wanted all the signs to be in keeping with everything else they had planned for the Big Day and also to enhance that sense of luxury yet rural nature.

There’s nothing I love more than receiving the official photos from the wedding day itself because it puts what I do into context; as I only ever see it in my studio and not in situ, surrounded by everything else that helps to make the day so magical. I also love seeing how happy my clients are and that’s what it’s all about! All photo credits go to, Jess Reeve Photography- and what a wonderful job too! Congratulations Nicole & Chris and best wishes for the future!

Real Wedding at Cripps Barn 🌿

I truly love nothing more than receiving wedding photos from the Big Day itself… It puts everything into perspective and a vision become reality. It’s amazing to see all the stationery I produce in my little studio come together with all the other wonderful things on the day, such as the flowers, foliage, overall table layout and everything.

This post is dedicated to the awesome couple Claire & Josh who travelled all the way from sunny Sydney, Australia to get married in the beautiful Cotswold venue, Cripps Barn.

They came to me after they had done their invitations and wanted something really special and personalised to them for the wedding day. They had two very prominent themes that they wanted enhancing within their stationery; their love of craft beer & beautiful rustic antlers. As you will see in the photographs below, we incorporated both of these things very nicely into their stationery, with flashes of copper, foliage, watercolour & brown kraft goodness. I had so much fun creating everything, including: personalised place names, personalised belly bands that wrapped around the napkins, an Order of the Day sign, Table Plan Cards, Table Name Cards, menus and Order of Service booklets. Thanks for having all the faith and giving me the creative freedom to produce some really exciting stuff! Congratulations to Claire & Josh, it was an absolute pleasure!

Kew Garden Wedding Invitations 🌿💍

I recently had the pleasure of designing and creating some bespoke invitations for a couple getting married at the stunning Kew Gardens. My clients wanted their invitations to reflect the elegance, sophistication and wanders of this incredible venue. Their theme was blush pink, ivory and rose gold.

There were quite a few stages to this design process, all of which were very unique to the couple. As you will see in the pictures below, we created a monogram of their initials which was wax stamped in a rose gold, rich wax on luxury vellum belly bands. They decided to go for the pocketfold invitation; this is a classic style and is great for containing lots of information in a beautiful, succinct way. The couple were having their reception in the grand Orangery in Kew Gardens, so they wanted this to be a feature on the invitations. I hand drew this magnificent building in pencil, scanned it in at a high resolution, converted it into a plate for foiling and then hand printed it in the rose gold- as you will see at the top of the invitation. The couples names and all the titles are also printed in the rose gold foil. They were printed on a textured, ivory card which only enhances that elegant feel to them.

It’s so important to set the right tone with your wedding stationery, after all, it is the first
thing your guests will see. Please do get in touch if you want to create something unique

Wedding Signage for the Big Day 👰🏽🤵🏼

Here at Retro Press, it's not all about the wedding invitations, but actually every little aspect of the Big Day itself. I often get asked if I can create little signs to accompany all the added extras that couples have on their wedding day... and the answer is yes of course! Whether it's a sign for your polaroid camera, bubbly bar or coffee station, we can do anything tailored to you. This means that you don't have to order generic ones online, but you can still have these designed to match your theme and style of your wedding. Here are some recent signs that I did for a lovely couple....

Order Of Services for the Big Day 💍

Gone are the days of boring, flimsy, poor quality Order of Service...  Over the years, I have designed and created many different types of Order of Services. I get asked so many different questions about these stationery items and I find that many of my couples struggle to bring these together. My job, as with all the other stationery, is to make it as painless a process as possible, whilst of course, making them perfect for you.

The kinds of things you need to consider when it comes to ordering your Order of Service are:
- Do you want them to be in the same design and style as your invitations? So the same colours, motifs, patterns, gold foiling, paper stock etc.
- How much information are you going to have in them? Are they simply going to be timelines of the day or are they going to contain all the hymns, readings, etc.
- Do you want to provide your guests with one per couple or one per person?

There are basically 3 different formats to choose from with Orders of Service and heres a little breakdown for you;

  • A card, either A6 or A5 size. Single or double sided, depending upon how much information you need on them. This option is definitely one for couples that don't have much information to go on them in general.
  • Folded card; a 4 page booklet. Again, I would suggest to go for this style if you don't have an abundance of information to go on them.
  • An 8 page Booklet; which I find is the most popular option. With this style, you have an outer cover, which can be printed on all sides and then an insert sheet which is stapled in. These are great for when there is a lot of information- like having the hymns written out etc.

In terms of design, as ever, there are so many options, but I feel like I can put them into 'categories' for you:

  • Most of my couples usually carry on their design from their invites to their Orders of Service, so including a motif, the same fonts, colours and overall vibe.
  • Others like to include a sketch of the Church/ venue that they are getting married in.
  • And sometimes, people want to go more traditional with them and keep them quite simple- so no patterns or illustrations.

At the end of the day, it's up to you. It's a personal preference. But these are so important to get right because your guests will naturally keep hold of them as a momento of your Big Day. Have a look below at just a selection of past Orders... Please do get in touch if you have any questions and need any help with sorting yours out.

Business Stationery for Red Pig Coffee 🐽

Nothing says COFFEE like brown kraft cards... They just seem to go hand in hand with each other. Red Pig Coffee Roasters are a fabulous company based in the Cotswolds that supply rich, glorious coffee to well respected coffee joints all over the country. When they came to me for a little re-brand and help with both the designing and printing of some of their products, I could'nt wait to get my hands on it.
We agreed that foiling their stationery was the way forward. Giving everything a luxury feel to it but keeping it all very much 'earthy' and reflective of their products.
I have very much enjoyed working with the team behind Red Pig and looking forward to some more exciting things to come!
Please get in touch if you'd like help with your business stationery... there's a lot to be said for having creating the right tone with your stationery.
