Photoshoot at Lapstone Barn

We have recently been lucky enough to be apart of a fantastic styled shoot at the fabulous venue,
Lapstone Barn, which is located in the heart of the Cotswolds.

The stationery we created for the shoot was solely inspired by the fabulous mood board created by Jane from Tulle & Blue. The muted blue tones mixed with the greys, burnt gold and greens were the focus for me. I wanted to design something soft, whimsical and beautiful to enhance the overall elegant and mystical tone of the shoot. Everything has been hand printed and hand made with love and also hand painted – using a watercolour wash to create the backdrop to all artworks. Everything we designed is in keeping with all the other pieces giving a natural flow; stationery items include, a pocket-fold invitation with matte gold foiling, place name tags, gold foiled menu cards, table numbers, seating plan cards which hang from the foliage hoop and a welcome sign.

We absolutely loved being involved in this shoot and seeing everything come together; it’s so important
that all elements of your Big Day matches and compliments each other and this just highlights that. Have a look at just a few of the amazing photographs taken by Joanna Briggs below… All suppliers can be found below the images.

Photoshoot at Upcote Barn 💍👰🏽

Last week, I had the pleasure of working on a wedding photoshoot at the beautiful venue of Upcote Barn with an amazing list of other local Cotswold suppliers (please find at the end of article). Luckily, we had beautiful weather and it was the perfect setting for what we wanted.
As you can see, the colour scheme that we all worked to was, burgundies, reds, whites and pops of yellows, greens and oranges. Because it was such a sunny, luscious day, this looks perfect for a summer wedding, but we were going for more of an Autumnal feel. All images are courtesy of the incredible Ben from Blooming Photography....

And here is the stationery that I designed specifically for the day... which will soon be available on the website as part of a new customisable range of luxe designs : The Foil Collection. The gold leaf illustration is the focal point of this design, reflective of foliage, elegance and decadence...

Autumnal Wedding Invitations 🍂

If you're getting married in the Autumn of this year (so from September onwards), I would suggest that you need to get thinking about your wedding invitations (if you haven't already). It's definitely not too late, but from experience, I would recommend sending them out 2-3 months before the Big Day itself. At the moment, I am working on lots of invitations for this time of the year as well as all the day stationery for couples getting married in the summer. It's all go!

When it comes to your wedding invites, it's important to reflect the vibe, tone & theme of your wedding. So if you're having it in the Autumnal months, think of the colours: burgundy's, golds, bronzes, burnt oranges, maroons, navy's, coppers and also reds. I'm not saying that your invites can't be a blush rose (if that's the theme running throughout your wedding) for instance and actually I would highly recommend them to be if this is the styling for your Big Day. I'm also not implying that you need to have the iconic red and orange leaves on your invites just because you're getting married in October. Have a look at some past invitations I have created for around this time of year to give you some inspiration...

And if you're looking for some more inspiration for the Big Day itself, I have sieved through a lot of images on Pinterest and got a collation of some of my favourite styling ideas here... Please do get in touch with your ideas for your wedding stationery, be it invitations or on the day stationery, I cannot wait to hear from you!

Real Wedding at Cripps Barn 🌿💍

There's nothing better than receiving the official photographs from a wedding that you've been so involved in... I was very excited about these ones in particular as I had worked closely with the couple from the start (on their invitations) and then I went onto create their unique stationery for the Big Day itself. I just LOVE seeing how everything comes together- it's like a jigsaw puzzle and the stationery being one of the many pieces that helps make this day so special.
Lisa & Ben came to me about a year ago with their styling ideas and dreams of what they envisioned their wedding to be like... They had already secured their date & venue; the beautiful Cripps Barn, located in the heart of the Cotswolds... So luxe rustic was the vibe; think, foliage, lots of greenery, brown kraft, ("strictly no bunting"), whites, creams and just stylish all over! I couldn't wait to get started! Oh and, they also have a miniature dachshund in which they wanted to feature on the invitations... so here they are to show you where we started our journey...

And now for the pics you've been waiting for... Photographed by the talented Adam Drake...

How amazing?! Everything looks just perfect and I am so happy to have been a part of it all. Now, here are some photo's of the wedding stationery that I created for this wonderful couple. I designed everything in keeping with their invitations, so everything is on brown kraft card and everything has the same feel and look as the invites did. The Table Plan and Order of the Day sign are both laser engraved on wood, so just enhancing the rustic tones of the day, but in an elegant, beautiful way.

A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to you, Lisa & Ben, it's been an absolute please working with you both and thanks for sharing your amazing wedding pics with us!! Please see who else helped make this day special with the list of suppliers below:

Real Wedding at Dewsall Court, Hereford 🤵🏼👰🏽

There's nothing I love more than receiving photographs from the Wedding Day itself... After working closely with the couple from the start right up until the Big Day, seeing all the stationery in situ makes everything so real and it's so nice to see it working with all the other bits, like the wedding flowers, the table display and just the general vibe.

The theme of this particular wedding was Navy, whites, rose gold, simplicity and elegance. Their bespoke invitations set the tone for the Wedding, as this is the first indicator of what the guests are to expect (very important might I add). See the image below to get an idea of their style...

For the Wedding Stationery on the day, the couple wanted to continue the design through to everything; from the Menus, Table Names, Place Names to the Table Plan. Everything was in keeping, consistent and beautiful. Have a look at the amazing photographs from the Day, by the wonderful Emma Gardiner... A huge Congratulations to Amelia & Dale!

Real Wedding at Elmore Court

For me, one the many highlights of designing and producing wedding stationery is getting to see the photographs from the couple's Big Day itself. It sends goose pimples down my spine to know that Retro Press has been apart of their special day and helped bring everything together- all their dreams, visions, months of planning and organising is brought to life. I usually start the journey with the Bride & Groom- from their Save the Dates or Invitations right through to their day stationery and then their thank you cards. So as you can imagine, relationships are formed and by the end I normally feel like I know my couple and getting to see the pics really makes my day! I also do a lot of 'on the day stationery' for couples who haven't had their invitations done at Retro Press.

This particular feature is on a recent Wedding at Elmore Court in which Retro Press designed and produced all the stationery from start to finish. The colour scheme of the wedding was greys, silvers, natural creams and greens (foliage) with a glamorous, elegant feel to the whole day. The bride's invitations were silver foiled on thick grey card. They set a stylish, classic tone for the Big Day itself.

The stationery for on the day, including personalised Menu cards, Order of Ceremony cards, the Table Plan and Table Names all carried on the same theme as the invitations. We stuck to the same shades of colour, fonts and overall feel. The table plan was finished on an A1 perspex sheet with the table names to match (also in the perspex). This was lit up by tea lights and finished off with some greenery... It looked divine. A huge thank you to Robert Leons for these beautiful images (below) and a massive congratulations to Jo & Ben on their marriage.

The Wedding Flowers Meets The Wedding Stationery 🌸💕

A great day was had by all; myself from Retro Press, Jo from Aqua Flowers and Kate from Little Cheltenham. Upon meeting Jo at a Wedding Fair (at Upcode Barn) & seeing her floristry skills and beautiful arrangements, I just knew that our Wedding services/products would go hand in hand very nicely. The aim of this shoot, which was wonderfully crafted, directed and shot by Kate, was to show you how the initial stages of planning, i.e. the wedding invitations, should match up with the theme and vibe of the Wedding Day itself and all that goes with it, like the flowers and other such decorations. It's so pleasing to see how everything links together and how different fields within the same industry really do compliment each other.

The photoshoot was done at Aqua's amazing studio, up at Manor Farm - which is set in the most idyllic of surroundings in the middle of the Cotswolds. There were so many great backdrops to choose from, including the luxury of being right next to the cutest little church ever... It was all just so perfect. It was a great day for a Spring/ Summer shoot and I just can't wait for the Autumn/ Winter one now. Here's a few pics of behind the scenes.

We wanted the set of final images to SHOW OFF all aspects of design; the flowers themselves, the stationery items and the photography skills.... It was an absolute JOY to work with both of these suppliers and I couldn't recommend either of them enough - please check out my friends page to find out more about them.
