Brown Kraft Wedding Stationery πŸ·πŸ’•

The Brown Kraft Travel Tag is definitely one of my favourite styles of invitations. It's different, unique and enhances the rustic feel to your wedding. The design is unrestricted in the sense that you can go for something very modern (as in this post) or very traditional; the options are endless.

This blog post features the bespoke invitations for a couple who recently tied the knot along with their other on the day stationery items; their Place Names and Orders of Services. I also created their Table Plan and Table Numbers to match.

Lyn & Tim were had their reception at Prescott Speed Hill Climb, so they wanted all of their stationery to be themed around the iconic old racing cars. As you can see, everything is in keeping and all looked wonderful! It's in the little touches of detail that make all the difference.

Don't hesitate to get in touch with your ideas for your invitations, I'm always excited to take on new challenges and new designs!

Wow! Where did that year go?! And what a wonderful, jam- packed, exciting one it was too! I've had invitations coming out of my ears, from rustic to glam and everything in between, I've designed and produced lots of different and unique day stationery, from do not disturb signs to huge welcome signs, and then there has also been a lot of business stationery on the go and new brands that I've been working with... It's been crazy! Did I mention that there has been several collaborative photo-shoots, wedding fairs, meetings and relationships formed with wedding suppliers and wedding venues AND a re-launch of the website too?! Oh and I've moved studios/ house and got a little fur baby too- Lewi, a very naughty miniature dachshund!

Bespoke Wedding Invitations for Eckington Manor πŸ’’πŸ’•

Eckinton Manor Wedding Venue

Eckington Manor is one of the beautiful, idyllic venues I have come across. It's filled with rustic charm whilst having a very elegant feel to it. I love the history of the Manor and how it has evolved into being what it is today. It's a small, family run business so it's got a huge friendliness and warmth about the place, rather than a stiff corporate feel. It is renown for it's delicious food, in which they grow much of the produce on their "award winning farm, orchard, vegetable and herb gardens." Needless to say, everything about this venue is award winning; the atmosphere, the glorious views, the rural location, the food, the luxury accommodation... and the list goes on!

I have had the pleasure of partnering up with Eckington and have designed some Bespoke Wedding Invitations for their fabulous venue. I have hand drawn the recently renovated Barn in which couples get married in (see image at the top). I have done two different styles of invitations for the Brides and Grooms to choose from. The designs, of course, are 'not set in stone'; they are templates in which colours can be changed to match your wedding theme, fonts changed to suit your desired look and also the wording can be easily amended. I have chosen to stay in keeping with the feel of the Manor, so I have used brown kraft coloured paper to reflect the earthliness, rustic, rural nature. If you want to start from scratch and create something truly specific to you, this is of course another option! Have a look at the images below and please do get in touch if you're getting married at the Manor and are wanting something special to match your Big Day.

The Barn at Upcote Wedding Fair πŸ‚πŸ’’

Wow! What a fabulous day it was; the Autumn Wedding Fair at the Barn at Upcote on Sunday. The rain held out, the chickens were about, the suppliers were out in force and of course, lots of wonderful Brides & Grooms to be flocked to the venue for this wonderful event. The atmosphere was vibrant and just in general, it was great to be apart of, as ever.
Retro Press had the honour of designing all the artwork for the Fair, including the Invite, the massive banner (at the top of the road) and the Welcome sign. As with a wedding itself, it's nice to keep it all consistent and in keeping with the Barn, but also allude to the Autumnal theme, in which they created very well.

Here are a few pics from the Retro stand, the general busyness of the fair and the flowers are courtesy of Jo from Aqua Flowers... ENJOY! And don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions you may have. Please check out the supply list at the end of this post.

Wedding Inspiration: Green Foliage 🌿

In this past year, I have seen a significant rise in the desire for a more 'natural' wedding vibe, with lots of greens, creams and foliage taking precedent throughout the wedding. Whether you're going for a rustic feel or a classic one, this colour palette lends itself very nicely to both.

I've been having a look through Pinterest and have found some wonderful inspiration for when it comes to the Big Day itself and I very much enjoy all of it...

As I briefly touched upon in my opening paragraph, this colour way and feel of foliage works well with both a rustic wedding or a very classic/ traditional one. In terms of the wedding stationery to match, with the rustic feel, I would be tempted to add in a brown kraft element, along with twine, lace, etc. If you are going for a more traditional wedding, I would suggest that gold & rose gold work very well with this theme, or keep it quite simple and adding in a wreath/ some leaves as decoration.

Below are some past examples of where rustic meets foliage...

Please see below for some past stationery designed and produced here at Retro in which reflect  this gorgeous theme, but in a more classic style.

Bespoke Wedding Invitations for The Barn at Upcote πŸ’’πŸ–Œ

It's been just over a year since Jo & Andrew opened the doors to the beautiful Barn at Upcote and since then I've been lucky enough to work closely alongside the venue. It's not just a Wedding Venue; they hold many different types of events there throughout the year, from corporate parties to charity galas - it's just a great place for any type of social gathering. Have a look at a few pics below (taken from their website) to give you an idea of the amazing setting up there...

I created the foundations of an invitation for the Barn which included a hand drawing of the beautiful building itself. I wanted to create an invitation that was reflective of the mood, feel and vibe of the place, which is that of a rustic yet elegant nature. The idea behind this initial invitation is to give you (the bride and groom to be) a starting point, inspiration and a uniqueness which you won't find anywhere else. You can stylise this invitation in many different ways; you could have a pocketfold invitation, a flat invitation or in the form of a travel tag. You can change the colours to match your wedding theme, you can add dashes of colour/ flowers to it, we can change the fonts (if you want more of a traditional feel, etc), print on different paper... Basically, the options are endless and I just want to make your life as easy as possible for you. Please have a look through some of the variations I have done over this last year. I'm very open to new challenges, so please don't hesitate to get in touch with your dream invitation ideas to match this dream venue.

A Floral Affair; Bespoke Wedding Stationery for Clearwell Castle

There's nothing better/ more satisfying for me than working closely with a couple, right from the start of their journey (from when they basically got engaged), up until the end (the start of their beginning); the actual wedding day. I love receiving pictures- and not just of my stationery but of the bride and groom themselves!

The wedding stationery in this post was all done for a couple who have literally just tied the knot. From the rustic/ floral invitations, to the thank you favour tags, to the table names and everything in between, I love it all. I have done quite a few stationery suits for Clearwell Castle now and each and every one has been so different- it just depends upon your theme, your colours and your big day. These have been great fun and I can't wait to do the thank you cards to finish everything off. Congratulations to Sinead & Tom!!

Travel Tag Rustic Invitation

The travel tag inspired invitation is definitely one of the most popular styles that I do- it's different and unique to Retro Press; it was the very first invitation that I ever designed in fact!

There are so many designs that I can apply to this style of invite; you can make them rustic/ vintage using kraft paper and twine or you can make them quite classical on white beautiful paper, finished off with ribbon... Like the pocketfold invitation, the travel tag is more of a format- the overall look and feel of them depends upon what tone you want to set for your big day.

The wedding invites in this post definitely have a rustic feel, with the addition of the cockerel at the top only enhancing this- which was a specific request from the bride & groom to be.

It's so important to set the right tone from your invitations- these are just perfect for this particular couple as they are having their marriage celebration on their farm. The hand printed letterpress coasters went with the invitations also.

Pocketfold Wedding Invitations

The pocketfold wedding invitation is one of the many different formats that we do here at Retro Press. I wouldn't call it a 'style' of invitation, but its more of a function because you can make it into whatever style you like; classic/traditional, rustic, clean or modern; depending on your type of wedding.

Pocketfold invitations are basically sturdy envelopes that contain your invitation and other info/ rsvp slip, thus they are great for containing lots of information and keeping it in one place. You can have different sizes; DL, square or rectangular; again this depends upon personal preference. There are many different outer 'fastening' techniques for them; from belly bands, to twine, to ribbon and a tag, to a wax seal- all of which we do in house at Retro. You can have gold leaf foiling on them or digital printing.

This type of invitation is quite expensive to produce in relation to just opting for the flat invitation- the pocketfold envelope is custom ordered in for you (depending on what colour you want- there is a huge variety, almost any colour available), they need to be hand put together; every fold needs creasing, sticking and securing, and then there's all the printed luxury paper that goes inside it to account for.

Have a look at some past bespoke pocketfold invitations to get you inspired for yours... Don't hesitate to get in touch to discuss further.

Vintage themed Wedding Stationery

Your wedding stationery is something that you think about after you've chosen your wedding venue. This is for a few reasons; you will need to know the kind of wedding you're going to have (and the venue definitely sets the tone for this) and you will also have a fixed date- all the information you need to do your invitations.

The vintage/ rustic theme is one of my most loved ones; there is so much you can do with it and you can make your whole day revolve around it and it will look so beautiful. It's important that this theme is in keeping with your venue- I personally think it suits barn type weddings/ marquee weddings and maybe not the grand hotel type weddings. I hope this makes sense! There are so many different things you can do on the day to tie this whole theme together; please have a look at some of the images below (taken from pinterest) to give you some inspiration.

Over the years, I have done many a bespoke vintage wedding invitation. Working with brown kraft paper is my favourite- it gives strong rustic vibes and looks fantastic. Twine, ribbon and cotton lace compliment this paper stock very nicely too. Have a look at some past vintage invitations that I have done below. Please do get in touch with your request, even if it's not indeed vintage! The Save the Date tags that you see in the first pic can be easily ordered on my website.

Tandem Bike Inspired Wedding Invitations

It's always nice to include a theme into your wedding stationery... Whether it's a theme that is running throughout your day or indeed something that means something special to you two- the place in which your partner proposed, the first flowers that they bought you or even your pets; making your stationery personal to you will make it stand out from the rest.
With this in mind, I'd like to showcase this particular bespoke stationery to you in this post... Tandem bike inspired pocektfold, classic wedding invitations! The fiancΓ© is a bicycle fanatic so the couple has their heart set on this running through as a theme for their big day. They wanted to keep them quite traditional yet with a rustic twist (kraft envelopes). We have hand printed the tandem bike in gold foil as motif at the top of the invitations, as you can see. These were finished with the beautiful twine wrapped around them.
If you also want to be unique on your wedding day, please do get in touch and hopefully we can fulfil your dreams too.

Bespoke Luggage Tag Invitation

The luggage tag style invitation is definitely a favourite of ours... It's just a fantastic way of holding lots of information together- you can have as many sheets as necessary or even just one. They are elegant, different and fun! We've got a few different styles that you can choose from in our Boutique Collection which you can adapt and tweak to suit you and your desires. Or you can go totally bespoke like these ones exhibited in this post... Please get in touch if you'd like any samples sent to you so you can get an idea of the great quality of these invitations for yourselves.

Bespoke Gold Foiled Wedding Stationery for Number 38 The Park

Each and very job done here at Retro is totally bespoke and unique to our customers. It is so important to pay attention to the little details and make sure that your stationery sets the right tone/ vibe for the big day in question- whether that be a birthday party, a business event or your wedding.
These particular invitations, orders of service and cards that I am showcasing in this post have got that kraft/ rustic feel to them with that added bit of luxury with the gold foil detailing of the ampersand. Even though the fonts are different throughout the stationery, the consistency of that bold navy colour, the kraft paper and the gold ampersand makes it all tie together very nicely. The brief from the bride for these personalised wedding invitations was: to keep them simple, bold, uncompromising and without being "too fussy"... I think this has definitely been achieved and I am delighted to of been a part of this couples big day!

Upcote Barn Wedding Invitations

So Retro Press has been lucky enough to team up with the wonderful, most idyllic venue; The Barn at Upcote. It is situated in the heart of the Cotswolds and boasts the most fantastic views, surroundings and atmosphere. As soon as I had visited the Barn and met the fantastic couple, Jo & Andrew who run it, I already had a design in mind for some wedding invitations to match and hopefully capture the essence and vibe of the place.

Being that this venue is a converted barn on a very rural landscape, rustic/ vintage styled stationery is the perfect way to reflect this... Think kraft paper, twine and an overall informal yet classic feel. I hand drew an image of the barn which appears at the top of the invitations. I think to have the venue of where you're going to get married on the actual invitations gives them a personal touch and gives your guests an idea to the vibe of the day and it is nice for them to envision the setting. I have designed 2 different styles of invites for this venue; one being the classic pocketfold and the other, a take on the beautiful luggage label. Both styles are great ways of containing lots of information in which you would like to send out to your guests. The colours that I have used are based on the logo of Upcote Barn as I wanted to have some consistency running throughout. Anyway, take a look for yourselves...

If you are getting married at this fantastic venue, please get in touch if you'd like more details about your wedding stationery... The invitations can be tailor made towards you, so we can change the colours, change the wording and even change the font- anything is possible!

Modern Olive Wreath Wedding Invitations

The olive branch wreath is a very popular theme for wedding stationery design. Whether you want a more traditional vibe or modern twist, it nice to be able to incorporate a theme to run throughout your stationery and big day. These invitations that I am showcasing in this blog post, were totally personalised to the couple who wanted contemporary, clean, quite simple yet rustic olive themed wedding invitations. They are getting married in Italy, so these work perfectly.

It's always fun working on different designs day in, day out. So please do get in touch with any requests or ideas that you want for your wedding stationery.

Paris Styled Wedding Invitations

We all know that Paris is one of the most romantic cities in the world! So it's no wonder why so many people get proposed to here. I always think it's nice when people want to include a bit of their history/ story into their wedding stationery... It makes them extra special and unique to them I guess.

So I've discovered this old, authentic letterpress plate of the eiffel tower with a postage stamp in our collection and I think it would look absolutely amazing on some wedding invitations!! I have used it for swing tags before, so there are many possibilities for it's use...

Whether you've got history behind having a Paris themed wedding or not... You need to get in touch with us today, because we would love to help inspire your wedding stationery with this image!!

Travel Tag Invitations from the Boutique Collection

Due to popular demand, you can now order your bespoke travel tag wedding invitations "off- the- peg" as it were! These are just great invitations for many reasons; they look amazing, they are a bit different and unique and they are work really well in terms of containing lots of information- you can have as many separate sheets as you wish and they are all beautifully tied together with either ribbon, string or twine.

Β

These are quite modern wedding invitations but the styles can be altered to make them more traditional if you wish. You can order these by going to the Boutique Collection on the website. They are still very much personalised to you as we change the colours, wording and paper stock to match your wants and needs for your big day. Please get in touch if you'd like a free sample.

Swallow Letterpress Wedding Invitations

The rustic style of wedding invitations is forever on the surge. They suit the barn type weddings and remember that the invitations really do set the tone for the whole day. They give your guests an indication of what type of event it's going to be. This is why it is so important to get them right.

The invitations that I want to showcase to you in this blog post are of that nature; vintage/ rustic. Using a combination of finishes; the actual invitation was letterpress printed on kraft paper, to give that 'stamp' like quality. As every single invite was hand printed, not one is exactly the same. That's the beauty of letterpress printing. The info and RSVP sheets were digitally printed on white textured paper. As you can see, they are held together by string. There is the option to have ribbon or twine with these type of invitations. If I had to put these into a category, I would say that these are travel tag invitations, which are great ways in themselves of containing all the bits of information together.

If you'd like your very own custom wedding invitations designing, you've come to the right place... Please get in touch for more details.

For the Rustic Affair

Living in the Cotswolds, we are surrounded by many 'barn' type, rural landscapes and these are becoming ever so more popular for wedding events.

One of my designs in the Boutique Collection range was inspired by this whole theme, feel and vibe; Lapsang Souchang.

As you can I had these printed on the wonderful kraft paper, although we can print these onto other paper stocks if you'd prefer. I wanted these to be classy yet fun and different. Inspired by the classic luggage label. If you want to create that true rustic feel to your day, these invitations will set the tone very nicely. I also do the matching stationery for the actual day too- so whether you need table signs, orders of service, etc, this can all be designed in the same style. The colours and wording can be adapted to suit your very special day.

Save the Date Wedding Coasters

So we have a selection of different coaster designs to chose from on our website... But if none of them take your fancy, we are very happy to do a bespoke design for you. The options are endless. We are constantly designing new coasters all the time, so even if you take one as a starting point, that'll work nicely.

The digital version you see online isn't the exact representation of what the real coasters will look like. This is because each and every one is individually hand printed letterpress. They have a texture about them and a quality unachievable via digital printing. Some coasters may be more heavily inked than others and some may be really faded. This is the beauty of letterpress; it's never perfect. To show you an example of this, a recent bride really like the overall design of 'Jessica', but wanted the font from 'Martha' as the 'Save the Date' font.... See digital versions below.

Thus, we designed a digital proof for the bride and once approved we got into the studio to print the final letterpress coasters. Please see below. We hope you love as much as we do :) To find out more please visit our website.
