Bespoke Invitation Design for Lapstone Barn ๐ŸŒฟ

Lapstone Barn is definitely up there with one of my favourite wedding venues! If you are havenโ€™t yet decided where to get married, I would highly recommend visiting this stunning Cotswold wonderland.

Having recently just had the pleasure of exhibiting at their latest Wedding Fair on Sunday, I felt it was only appropriate to create a new, exciting, bespoke invitation design especially for couples getting married at this exquisite venue.

When it comes to your wedding invitations, itโ€™s very important to reflect the overall theme and vibe of what you want your Big Day to be. After all, receiving your invitations is the very first insight into your wedding that your guests will getโ€ฆ Make sure its a good one!

With this in mind, I wanted to create an invitation for the barn that is elegant, easily adaptable (in terms of the colours) and truly unique to couples getting married there. I have hand drawn the barn which features at the top of the invitation and printed it in rose gold. You can easily change this to suit you and your theme of your Big Day- so silver, gold, copper, etc. I have hand painted a watercolour wash of green which is behind the names- again this is easily adaptable or even erasable if youโ€™d prefer. I chose to go with this colour with the watercolour and the pocketfold envelope to reflect the vast, green landscape that surrounds the Barn.

Real Wedding at Cripps Barn ๐ŸŒฟ

I truly love nothing more than receiving wedding photos from the Big Day itselfโ€ฆ It puts everything into perspective and a vision become reality. Itโ€™s amazing to see all the stationery I produce in my little studio come together with all the other wonderful things on the day, such as the flowers, foliage, overall table layout and everything.

This post is dedicated to the awesome couple Claire & Josh who travelled all the way from sunny Sydney, Australia to get married in the beautiful Cotswold venue, Cripps Barn.

They came to me after they had done their invitations and wanted something really special and personalised to them for the wedding day. They had two very prominent themes that they wanted enhancing within their stationery; their love of craft beer & beautiful rustic antlers. As you will see in the photographs below, we incorporated both of these things very nicely into their stationery, with flashes of copper, foliage, watercolour & brown kraft goodness. I had so much fun creating everything, including: personalised place names, personalised belly bands that wrapped around the napkins, an Order of the Day sign, Table Plan Cards, Table Name Cards, menus and Order of Service booklets. Thanks for having all the faith and giving me the creative freedom to produce some really exciting stuff! Congratulations to Claire & Josh, it was an absolute pleasure!

Rustic Elegant Wedding Inspiration ๐ŸŒฟ

Rustic elegant is now a "thing" and it's definitely taking over the whole 'vintage, bunting, rustic' vibe. Think, lots of lights, candles, foliage, greenery, natural light and beautiful countryside; all make up for a beautiful, rustic yet elegant tone for your wedding.

For styling on the Big Day, there is so much inspiration on Pinterest and here are just a few from my board that I have pinned...

I have recently designed and created some bespoke Save the Date's for a couple who are getting married in their local church and having their reception at their parents country farm house in a stunning barn. Everything is so personal to them so it was important to set the right tone with their wedding stationery from the start. They wanted to allude to the countryside aesthetic without going down the brown kraft route. As you can see, I have hand painted the wheat in the background which is subtle yet still very visible. On top of this, I have gold foiled "Save the Date" with their details written below. We decided to go with these heritage green envelopes which also nods to the country styled wedding theme. It's this attention to detail that helps create the overall tone... I cannot wait to work on their wedding invitations now!

Please do get in touch if you'd like to create something unique for you and your wedding.

Rustic Day Stationery from the Tailored Collection

I often get asked if there is Day stationery to accompany the the Tailored Collection designs... And the answer is yes! So that includes everything from the Order of Services, the Table Plan, the Place Name cards, Table Cards, Signage, Menus and anything else you can think of. I feel like it's sometimes hard to envision your invitation design translated into these stationery items so I thought I'd dedicate a post to it, focusing on just one of the designs from the Collection; The Blue Thistle invitation.

The invitation design was inspired by the wonderful rustic wedding theme. But I wanted to create something that was rather elegant and something a bit different to the normal idea of "rustic". Printed on beautiful brown kraft card, this design is quite simple yet bold, luxurious and sets the tone for a barn type wedding. There is the option to have it printed on a white card or even a different coloured background, which changes the tone completely.... It's amazing how much the paper stock makes a difference the overall style and vibe. Have a look at the Invitation and Save the Date suite below....

And now for the Day Stationery items... These are from a couple that recently got married at the stunning Great Tythe Barn in Tetbury. As you can see, they decided to go for Order of Service booklets, name place cards, table cards and they also had a table plan too (waiting for photos of this).... Everything is in keeping with each other which makes such a big impression on the Big Day itself. It's that attention to detail that leaves your guests WOWED!

Bespoke Wedding Invitation Design for Lapstone Barn ๐ŸŒฟ

I am absolutely elated to be now affiliated with the beautiful Cotswold wedding venue, Lapstone Barn. Situated close to Broadway and other neighbouring villages such as Chipping Campden, it's the perfect location for a perfect countryside wedding.

Upon visiting Lapstone, I had a clear vision of what kind of wedding invitation I was going to design for them... I was blown away by the vast, luscious green views that surrounded the barn and I wanted to capture this within the invitation. The other striking thing that hit me about this venue was that it had an air of elegance and sophistication to it, more like a stately home rather than a rustic barn type feel. Again, I wanted to reflect this in the design.

Here's a little bit of 'behind the scenes' / process shots for you...

So as you can see, I have used a few different processes to create these; the first being the hand painted watercolour element. I wanted to capture the landscape with this watercolour wash and also make it personalised to the barn by recreating their motif. The second is hot foiling; I wanted to add a bit of 'sparkle' to the invites and I wanted to illustrate the beautiful fairy lights that run down their function room. The foiled element of the invitations can be in any colour, as can the watercolour wash- it's important to reflect YOUR Big Day, so I do always suggest having the splashes of your chosen colour scheme within your invitations.

Here is the final bespoke design I came up for the Barn... If you like what you see, please do get in touch to discuss your options. I would also highly recommend giving Lapstone a visit if you haven't already- you'll fall in love with the place as much as I did!

Real Wedding at Cripps Barn ๐ŸŒฟ๐Ÿ’

There's nothing better than receiving the official photographs from a wedding that you've been so involved in... I was very excited about these ones in particular as I had worked closely with the couple from the start (on their invitations) and then I went onto create their unique stationery for the Big Day itself. I just LOVE seeing how everything comes together- it's like a jigsaw puzzle and the stationery being one of the many pieces that helps make this day so special.
Lisa & Ben came to me about a year ago with their styling ideas and dreams of what they envisioned their wedding to be like... They had already secured their date & venue; the beautiful Cripps Barn, located in the heart of the Cotswolds... So luxe rustic was the vibe; think, foliage, lots of greenery, brown kraft, ("strictly no bunting"), whites, creams and just stylish all over! I couldn't wait to get started! Oh and, they also have a miniature dachshund in which they wanted to feature on the invitations... so here they are to show you where we started our journey...

And now for the pics you've been waiting for... Photographed by the talented Adam Drake...

How amazing?! Everything looks just perfect and I am so happy to have been a part of it all. Now, here are some photo's of the wedding stationery that I created for this wonderful couple. I designed everything in keeping with their invitations, so everything is on brown kraft card and everything has the same feel and look as the invites did. The Table Plan and Order of the Day sign are both laser engraved on wood, so just enhancing the rustic tones of the day, but in an elegant, beautiful way.

A HUGE CONGRATULATIONS to you, Lisa & Ben, it's been an absolute please working with you both and thanks for sharing your amazing wedding pics with us!! Please see who else helped make this day special with the list of suppliers below:

Lapstone Barn Wedding Venue ๐Ÿ’’

So I went to visit the beautiful new wedding venue that is Lapstone Barn last week. Based in Chipping Campden, surrounded by just the most idyllic, luscious green countryside; it makes for the most perfect Cotswold Wedding venue around.

The drive up to it, in itself, was super impressive and instantly, upon arrival, I fell in love with the place straight away. It's got a very cosy, warming vibe to it, with a very cute reception area before entering the most amazing space in which the ceremonies take place. They can take up to 200 seated guests, for the ceremony and for the evening- a much larger capacity than most other barn venues. The thing that struck me the most about this barn in particular, was the light; it was exceptionally light throughout, which again, is quite unusual for this type of venue. I especially loved the old milking parlour that is now the dining/ evening space- the industrial yet country feel to it makes it so unique, vast and different. It even has it's own very cool bar area, with comfy armchairs and a log inspired fireplace - a perfect place to let your party feet have a rest! There's a fantastic courtyard in the middle of the barn, in which they can hold outside ceremonies... Amazing!!

If you haven't yet been to Lapstone to have a visit, you need to get up there! The team that run it are great, so very helpful and welcoming. I understand that dates are filling up fast, so you need to be quick! I'm very much looking forward to working with this venue in the near future and  have got some exciting things coming up... watch this space! If you have already booked and you are planning your wedding, please do get in touch about your stationery- let's make it all as dreamy as the venue ๐Ÿ’• Check out the website: www.lapstonebarn.co.uk

Real Wedding at Cripps Barn ๐ŸŒฟ

One of my favourite things to blog about; a Real Wedding, with pictures from the Big Day itself. To see it all come together and the stationery in situ really makes me very happy! This one is a recent one from the beautiful venue of Cripps Barn.
I had worked with the couple from the start with their wedding invitations- in which they went for a Tailored Collection Design and just altered the colours and wording to suit their preferences. Please see below an image of the White Snapdragon design from the collection and then a picture of their adapted invitations.

The couple's theme, as you can see, was very much greens, golds and whites, which was not only in keeping with the venue but also with all of their flowers etc on the Wedding Day. After the invitations were sent out, we set out to work on the rest of the stationery. Retro Press designed and produced their Name Place Cards, Table Name Cards (which were all named after famous race horses- love it- see in pic below!) and Order of Service booklets. It was an absolute pleasure working with this lovely couple and a huge Congratulations to you both on your recent marriage!

Personalised Laser Engraved Wedding Signage ๐Ÿ‘ฐ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿคต๐Ÿผ

Here at Retro Press, I'd like to think almost anything is possible. I love a new challenge and creating new products, always adding to the ever expanding portfolio. One of the latest exciting projects I recently worked on was designing and producing laser engraved signage for a wedding- An Order of the Day board & Table Plan.
I had worked with the couple on their kraft, sausage dog inspired Wedding Invitations, so I was already very much inspired to work on their Day Stationery. Their theme was rustic, but cool, strictly not "twee", oh and definitely "no bunting"! They were getting married at the beautiful venue of Cripps Barn, so it was important that the style and vibe of the stationery matched up to this.
We kept elements from the invitation design throughout the wedding stationery suite; it's so nice for your guests to be able to relate to the first moment they opened their invitations. It's also adds to making that day extra special; having everything unique to you.
Have a look at some pictures of the products below:

As well as these items, Retro also created the couple's Table names & Place cards- all with a rustic feel to them on brown kraft card. I'm very much looking forward to seeing the photographs from the Big Day itself. A HUGE congratulations to Mr & Mrs Caton, it was dreamy working with you!

Laser engraved signage is a new one for Retro Press and I can't wait to do some more. I also do foam backed signage for Table Plans etc, as well as Perpex signage. If you've got something in mind for your Big Day, don't hesitate to get in touch and lets make it happen.

Bespoke Wedding Invitations for Eckington Manor ๐Ÿ’’๐Ÿ’•

Eckinton Manor Wedding Venue

Eckington Manor is one of the beautiful, idyllic venues I have come across. It's filled with rustic charm whilst having a very elegant feel to it. I love the history of the Manor and how it has evolved into being what it is today. It's a small, family run business so it's got a huge friendliness and warmth about the place, rather than a stiff corporate feel. It is renown for it's delicious food, in which they grow much of the produce on their "award winning farm, orchard, vegetable and herb gardens." Needless to say, everything about this venue is award winning; the atmosphere, the glorious views, the rural location, the food, the luxury accommodation... and the list goes on!

I have had the pleasure of partnering up with Eckington and have designed some Bespoke Wedding Invitations for their fabulous venue. I have hand drawn the recently renovated Barn in which couples get married in (see image at the top). I have done two different styles of invitations for the Brides and Grooms to choose from. The designs, of course, are 'not set in stone'; they are templates in which colours can be changed to match your wedding theme, fonts changed to suit your desired look and also the wording can be easily amended. I have chosen to stay in keeping with the feel of the Manor, so I have used brown kraft coloured paper to reflect the earthliness, rustic, rural nature. If you want to start from scratch and create something truly specific to you, this is of course another option! Have a look at the images below and please do get in touch if you're getting married at the Manor and are wanting something special to match your Big Day.

The Barn at Upcote Wedding Fair ๐Ÿ‚๐Ÿ’’

Wow! What a fabulous day it was; the Autumn Wedding Fair at the Barn at Upcote on Sunday. The rain held out, the chickens were about, the suppliers were out in force and of course, lots of wonderful Brides & Grooms to be flocked to the venue for this wonderful event. The atmosphere was vibrant and just in general, it was great to be apart of, as ever.
Retro Press had the honour of designing all the artwork for the Fair, including the Invite, the massive banner (at the top of the road) and the Welcome sign. As with a wedding itself, it's nice to keep it all consistent and in keeping with the Barn, but also allude to the Autumnal theme, in which they created very well.

Here are a few pics from the Retro stand, the general busyness of the fair and the flowers are courtesy of Jo from Aqua Flowers... ENJOY! And don't hesitate to get in touch with any questions you may have. Please check out the supply list at the end of this post.

Wedding Inspiration: Green Foliage ๐ŸŒฟ

In this past year, I have seen a significant rise in the desire for a more 'natural' wedding vibe, with lots of greens, creams and foliage taking precedent throughout the wedding. Whether you're going for a rustic feel or a classic one, this colour palette lends itself very nicely to both.

I've been having a look through Pinterest and have found some wonderful inspiration for when it comes to the Big Day itself and I very much enjoy all of it...

As I briefly touched upon in my opening paragraph, this colour way and feel of foliage works well with both a rustic wedding or a very classic/ traditional one. In terms of the wedding stationery to match, with the rustic feel, I would be tempted to add in a brown kraft element, along with twine, lace, etc. If you are going for a more traditional wedding, I would suggest that gold & rose gold work very well with this theme, or keep it quite simple and adding in a wreath/ some leaves as decoration.

Below are some past examples of where rustic meets foliage...

Please see below for some past stationery designed and produced here at Retro in which reflect  this gorgeous theme, but in a more classic style.
