So I've been lucky enough to inherit some original letterpress blocks from an old printer who used to be in action in the heart of Cheltenham in the 60's and 70's. I've got some great blocks including this wonderful image of Cheltenham's very own Pittville Pump Rooms. Just have a look at this image below!!
It was screaming out to be printed and as the Pump Rooms is a very popular wedding venue in the Cotswold's, I thought there would be no other better use of it than to print wedding invitations. So these that I've printed are just a mock, a template if you like, for future couples that are getting married there. It's to inspire ideas and maybe could be a basis for a bespoke design. I decided to design them in a traditional style and duly hand set the type to match this sentiment. Hence also, why I used gold ink, which I think makes them quite regal and classic looking. Please see the image below to get a better idea of the letterpress process.
A lot of the work that I do here at Retro is quite contemporary, sometimes a little quirky, so I wanted to do something quite authentic and more traditional. I also think it's such a nice idea to have an image of the venue on your invitations, especially when it is as beautiful as Pitville Pump Rooms. It makes it even more personal and unique to you. It goes without saying that we can get plates made for any venue, or any other image that is specific to your wedding.
So whether it's traditional letterpress invitations that you want or indeed modern invites, you know where to come. I love and embrace every new job as they are all so different. Feel free to look at our wide variety of wedding collections and don't be afraid to get in touch.
